Summer Class Descriptions
Dance Together for 2's and 3's
meets 2x a week for 45 minutes. Children and parents will experience for the first time the joy of dance through song and movement activities that include the use of props.
Dance Discovery ages 3.5-5.5
Meets 2x a week for 45 minutes and introduces children to the world of dance in a fun learning environment. The class incorporates movement skills that help to develop a child's coordination, balance, poise and rhythm. This is a great class to help prepare children for further study in ballet, tap and jazz.
ADC's Summer Starz Program for boys and girls for ages 6-8 and ages 9-12 years
meets 2 x a week for 2 hours. ADC's Summer Starz is a program designed for the student who is interested in becoming a triple threat -- acting, singing and dancing. This program is geared toward boys and girls ages 6-8 and ages 9-12. It is a fun course of study that will introduce your child to the performing arts all in ONE convenient location. ADC's Summer Starz program is designed for children with or without dance experience.
Ballet Beginner
meets 2x a week for 1 hour. This class is for ages 10 & up. The basics of ballet will be covered in this class. The emphasis will be on individual attention and the personal growth of each dancer. This is also a great class for students who want to improve their technique. This class is recommended for students who are preparing to audition for Performing Arts High Schools in the Fall.
HipHop for Kids
meets 2x a week for 45 minutes. This class is geared for children with or without dance experience. In this hip hop class age appropriate music and moves are used. Children will learn fun combinations and fun dance moves.
HipHop for Teens and Adults
meets 2x a week for 45 minutes. This class is geared for those with or without dance experience. Hip Hop is the coolest dance style around. This class is serious fun and a great workout! You will learn fun combinations and the hottest dance moves.
En Pointe
This workshop will focus on continuing pointe work. This class is designed for dancers with 2 or more years of pointe work and is by placement only. The pointe portion of the class will follow a regular ballet class to ensure that the entire body, especially the feet and ankles, are properly warmed up for pointe. The pointe portion of the class will continue with strengthening exercises at the barre in preparation for more center and across the floor pointe combinations.
To The Pointe Workshop
*By placement only. This class is designed especially for dancers starting pointe work or for those with one 1 year or less of experience on pointe. To The Pointe focuses on safe, proper instruction of beginning pointe technique. This class is under the direction of Maureen Gelchion, Director.
Broadway Style Tap and Jazz Workshop with Pam Lenker
* 3 Wednesdays - June 30, July 7 and July 14
The Tap Choreography workshop will introduce fun new choreography to music from
the Broadway show "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and the Jazz workshop will be fun, new choreography from a hit Broadway show. These classes are designed for students with tap and jazz experience at the advanced beginner level and up.
